!! NEWS FLASH !!
The US DEPARTMENT of transportation has just issued their new
pilot / escort operators best practices guidelines!
The National Pilot Car Association was happy to have many members attend the SC&RA Specialized Transportation Symposium held in Orlando, Florida this past February. The attendance from pilot car operations was astounding and well received by the industry, states, and associations nation-wide. The NPCA would like to thank the SC&RA, specifically Steven Todd and Beth O’Quinn, for including the pilot car industry in many speaking events and giving the NPCA a wonderful platform which allows us to be heard by a remarkable amount of people from around the world.
The NPCA highly encourages members to consider attending future SC&RA Specialized Transportation symposiums. The ability to see firsthand how industry and state officials work together towards achieving mutually beneficial goals allows members from our industry to be involved and included from the inception of these changes. The networking opportunities at events such as this are invaluable and immense.
This year NPCA Director Bill King organized a meet-and-greet for members to come together and interact with each other. This event had an amazing attendance from not only our members but also state officials and the carrier industry, and we hope to continue to have the opportunity to have networking events at future SC&RA events.
The NPCA is at the forefront of bringing unison in the pilot car industry. This unison is essential in allowing the NPCA to have involvement in changes being made in every state around the nation. We can’t stress enough how important it is that we grow our member base, and we stress to our members this message: please share our recent success. Let your fellow pilot car operators know about the value in joining the NPCA. We are young and growing, and we need our wonderful members to spread the word about who we are and what we do. The larger we grow, the larger voice we have and the greater change we can make.
Sadly, one of the founding members of the National Pilot Car Association has passed away. Elton Boyd, Vice President, left this world quietly on April 5, 2017.
Many of us knew Elton personally. Many others knew his voice from our monthly conference calls. He was a strong guiding force within the NPCA and Pilot Car community.
Elton will be greatly missed.
Services were held on Monday, April 10 at 11:00 AM Central at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, TX. http://www.croleyfh.net
